The 115-year-old Baptist Theological Seminary (BTA), Budapest, in the spirit of the Baptist creed, educates Christian professionals who are ready to conform their personal lives to the guidance of their calling Lord, Jesus Christ. For those who do not have such a calling, but who feel a lack of it, our goal is not only to equip them with the basic truths of the Christian faith and how to practice it, but also to equip them to be authentic representatives of it in all areas of public life. In our educational efforts, we are not only meeting the expectations of the Baptist Union of Hungary (Maintainer), but we are also training professionals (pastors, missionaries, civil theologians) who can offer practical solutions to the public issues of Hungarian society.
Within the BTA, the Rector and his vice-rectors are responsible for the running of the institution in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act. The Institute for Quality and Accreditation provides professional assistance in this work. It monitors the development of and compliance with the union’s and public requirements for the Seminary. By researching and meeting the needs that extend beyond the churches in the practice and scientific study of spiritual life, it helps to achieve the national strategic goals of its church client and the Hungarian state. The staff of the Institute, established on 28 January 2021, are active developers of the content, organization and quality of education (MAB audits) through forums that operate taking into account existing European Union norms (ESG 2015). Its activities range from assessing client needs and measuring student satisfaction, to examining the performance and career development of new employees. Its orientation is focused on the church and professional requirements within and beyond the maintaining church and its institutions, following the impact of changing circumstances on the conformity of our training.
The Institute’s approach to quality is based on the belief that it is God the Creator who has determined what can and cannot be considered good, and what leads to a „culture of death”. The teaching and educational efforts of the faculty of our college are based on the definition revealed in the Bible and its interpretation by Jesus Christ. The MAI seeks to provide points of reference in working this out and to monitor its implementation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The staff of the Institute is Gábor László, Secretary General, Gedeon Urbán, Head of Studies, and its director is Prof. em. Dr. Sándor Péter Veres
